What’s Coming Up

Whangārei Fringe Festival – September 27th to October 13th

The quirky and creative Whangārei Fringe Festival is a 17-day city-wide celebration of performance, visual arts, comedy, music, theatre, circus, varied workshops and community activity. The programme is surprising, diverse and multifaceted – there is something for everyone – toddlers, the elderly, music lovers and late-night comedy enthusiasts.

Whangārei Maritime Festival – October 12th & 13th

Immerse yourself in the rich seafaring culture of our region at the Whangārei Maritime Festival. This year’s festival offers plenty of fun for all ages, from steamboats to naval vessels – over 30 boats will be on display in Whangārei’s Town Basin as well as talks and interactive demonstrations on the festival area at Pūtahi Park.

Hospice House Tour – November 2nd & 3rd

If you’re building, redecorating or just dreaming of your next project, the 2024 Hospice House Tour offers inspiration for every style and taste. Happening on Saturday 2 November 2024 and Sunday 3 November 2024, you can explore beautifully designed homes, discover inspiring decor and get the creative boost you need.

Artisans Market & Canopy Night Market

And the fun doesn’t stop there! Whangārei’s Town Basin is home to awesome markets all summer, held on the Canopy Bridge. The Artisans Market has a wonderful array of premium arts, crafts, music and food from across Northland. The Canopy Night Market features incredible street food vendors with a great selection of multicultural dishes. Find market days and times.

As the year comes to a close, Whangārei will light up with Christmas parades, fireworks, and concerts, bringing holiday cheer to every corner of the city. Charity runs, walks, and family challenges round out a packed schedule that offers something for all ages.

On top of a fantastic event lineup, Whangārei’s spectacular natural beauty offers endless options for fun outdoors. From conquering Mt Manaia to swimming and surfing along the Tutukākā Coast, there’s somewhere new to explore every day.
